The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is offering about $1 million in funding for wildlife habitat projects, especially those featuring enhancement of habitats for game species. The application period for the Wildlife Habitat Grant Program is open until July 20. The program began in 2013 and is funded with a portion of the revenue from the hunting and fishing licenses sold each year. The DNR administers the program through a cooperative effort between its Wildlife Division and Grants Management Section. Funding is available for local, state, federal and tribal governments, for-profit and nonprofit groups and individuals. Minimum grant amounts are $15,000. The main objective of the grant program is to enhance and improve the quality and quantity of game-species habitat.
