An investigation continues into a body found along a New Buffalo beach this week. The police department there tells us that a contractor working on a lakeside development discovered the remains on Tuesday morning, partially buried in some sand. On Wednesday, the Berrien County medical examiner was to conduct an autopsy, although it wasn't immediately known when more information could be released. Officers do say that they're looking into the possibility that the body is that of a drowning victim from last year, due to its state of decomposition. The body was found about twelve feet from shore on a beach in the 800 block of North Drive, not far from the New Buffalo Yacht Club. The New Buffalo Police Department has notified other agencies along Lake Michigan -- including those in other states --- to see if they have any missing persons from the past year.
