Two men are in custody after they tried to break into Jericho Grocery near South Haven early Tuesday morning. 20-year-old Josue Ribera-Perdomo from Battle Creek and 25-year-old Raul Vera of South Haven allegedly set off the store's alarm at around 1:00 a.m. and when Van Buren County Deputies arrived on scene they found the two men behind the building. Perdomo took off running, while the other was held for questioning. A K-9 unit tracked down the fleeing suspect. Police say the men were trying to steal beer. Perdomo is charged with Resisting an Officer, Larceny from a Building and Burglary Enter without Permission. Vera is charged with Larceny from a Building and Burglary enter without Permission. Bond for the two men is set at $10,000 each. They both have preliminary hearings on February 8th.
