Authorities in Van Buren County are investigating the circumstances of a fatal stabbing that occurred on Wednesday night. The South Haven Police Department says that just before midnight, officers responded to a call about a disturbance at a residence on Lyons Street. The owner of the home had reported that a man she knew was trying to steal her car and some money. When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the man had already driven a short distance in the woman's car, and upon catching up to him, they discovered that he'd been stabbed. Despite the efforts of police and ambulance personnel to render aid, the man died at South Haven Hospital a short time later. The owner of the home was questioned and released, pending a review of the case by the Van Buren County Prosecutor.
