South Haven Beating Victim Remains In Critical Condition




A Fennville man remained in critical condition at a Kalamazoo hospital Wednesday night following an assault this week in Van Buren County. On Monday night, four people were arrested for attacking 38 year-old Charles Flanner in front of a South Haven restaurant. Deputy Police Chief Thomas Martin says that the victim knew his assailants, and that they'd had some sort of ongoing dispute:

22 year-old Nicholas Brooks, of South Haven...21 year-old Cameron Cole, of Grand Junction...and 18 year-old Charles Soukup the Third, of South Haven are charged with assault with intent to murder. 24 year-old Jeremiah Barnes, of South Haven, is charged with being an accessory to a felony after the fact. Martin says that witnesses to the attack were helpful to police:

The four charged face a preliminary examination next Wednesday, the 30th, and remain in the Van Buren County Jail.
