Another Setback For Ibrahim Parlak

A request from Berrien County restaurant owner Ibrahim Parlak for an "en banc" review of his deportation order from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has been denied. In October, Parlak petitioned the court for a full consideration of his case by all of its active judges not long after a three-judge panel voted two-to-one not to intervene in his deportation. The Turkish-born Parlak was granted political asylum in the US in 1992, but was later ordered deported in Homeland Security sweeps following Nine-Eleven. The government says that he failed to disclose his previous involvement with a Kurdish independence group now classified as terrorist. Parlak Spokesperson Martin Dzuris tells us Parlak got word last week that the full court will not give his case a review, and now his last option is the US Supreme Court. Dzuris says that Parlak has decided that is an avenue he wishes to pursue, and he's talking to attorneys on how to proceed. In the meantime, a petition drive in support of Parlak continues. Dzuris says that, so far, they've collected about 28-hundred signatures on a petition calling on top federal officials to let Parlak stay in the US.
