Saint Joseph City Commissioners this week recognized the winners of a contest to name one of the horses on the new Silver Beach Carousel. Mayor Bob Judd said at a Monday meeting that the city is sponsoring one of the carousel's horses, and Saint Joe Today recently held a contest to give him a name. With 687 entries received, city commissioners chose the name "Sir Saint Joseph," since the horse in question is wearing armor. Turns out that two people actually submitted that suggestion, so they both won. They were five-year old Emily Marske, of Saint Joe, and Janie Peterson, of Benton Harbor. They got gift cards and a bag of 2010 tokens for the Silver Beach Carousel.
