Van Buren County Deputies chased an East Leroy woman on her way to try and jump into Lake Michigan. Deputies got the call Sunday night from officers in Calhoun County that a 38-year-old woman slit her wrists and took off for South Haven to jump into the lake. When she crossed the county border, Van Buren deputies chased the woman on M-43 at speeds over 100 miles per hour at times and through Bangor. Deputies finally placed stop sticks under her car in South Haven Township. That finally stopped the car. Deputies took the woman into custody and transported her to South Haven Hospital for a medical evaluation. She's now being lodged at the Van Buren County Jail pending arraignment in the 7th District Court.
