Saint Joe Reaches Village Manager Agreement With Stevensville

Saint Joseph City Commissioners this week signed off on a plan to let Public Services Director Derek Perry serve as the new part-time village manager of Stevensville. Stevensville is still working to sort out its finances in light of recent cashflow and accounting problems, and officials say that hiring a full-time manager isn't feasible just yet. Instead, the plan is to bring in Derek Perry about ten hours a week to handle administrative duties in the village office, and manage public service matters. On Monday, members of a committee set up by the Saint Joe City Commission said that Perry would start the new job in January, and be paid abut 20-thousand dollar a year for his services. Perry tells us that he looks forward to helping the village with several issues:

The agreement between Saint Joe and Stevensville contains several stipulations. Among them is that the village financial statement be in order before Perry assumes his new role, and that the arrangement could be terminated at any time with 30 days notice. It also makes clear that Perry's primary obligation will be to Saint Joseph. Mayor Bob Judd said that the move represents a spirit of cooperation between the two communities. It will be brought up for review every six months.
