Further discussions on developing an area of Berrien County known as the I-94 Corridor are being put on hold. According to our reporting partners at the Tri-City Record, the supervisors of Watervliet and Hartford Townships recently agreed that it would be best to step back for a while in order to let some interested companies continue studying whether they'd like to locate there. A recycling firm is considering a facility in the corridor that could create up to 14-hundred jobs, and officials don't want to complicate that process by changing any zoning laws just yet. Four municipalities are cooperating in a joint effort to set up development-friendly zoning rules within the I-94 Corridor. They'll resume their talks in the spring of next year.
