BENTON HARBOR
There will be some new faces among Benton Harbor Commissioners after next week's election. For one thing, the city will have two new Commissioners-At-Large after Commissioner Ricky Hill decided to pull out of the election and Commissioner Ralph Crenshaw was defeated in the August primary. Hoping to fill those seats are 67-year-old Ruthie Haralson McCoy, 32-year-old Dwane Seats II and 34-year-old Marcus Muhammad. 55-year-old Dennis Knowles is challenging 4th Ward Commissioner Rahim Abdullah. And 48-year-old Steven McCoy is hoping to take Commissioner Juanita Henry's 3rd Ward seat.
BRIDGMAN
In Bridgman, seven candidates hope to fill four available city council seats. Commissioners Ron Birmingham, Jim Catania, Linda Gedeon-Kuhn and Robert Liskey are seeking re-election. They are being challenged by Hannah Anderson, John Foti and Frank Stewart. The Bridgman School Board also has a bon proposal on the ballot. The Board of Education is trying to get approval to borrow $22 million of general obligation tax bonds to pay for building and facility renovations in the district. It's the same bond that failed by two votes in February.
COLOMA
Coloma commissioners are running unopposed. Clerk Martha Darling and Treasurer Cathy Megna are seeking re-election. Commissioners Harold Bragg, Linda Freitag and Marsha Hammond are all seeking three 4-year terms. Coloma Township resident Mike Muenchow is running unopposed for the one 2-year term. Commissioner Sue Dahlquist is not running for re-election and there are no other ballot issues.
NILES
It's another story of council members running for unopposed seats in Niles. Council members Patricia Gallagher, Robert Durm, William Weimer and William Skalla are all hoping to fill their seats for another four years.
SAINT JOSEPH
Saint Joseph has three incumbent commissioners running for two 4-year terms and one 2-year term. Fran Chickering and Mary Goff are running unopposed for the longer term. Robert Judd hopes to be re-elected to a two-year term.
WATERVLIET
Watervliet voters will fill three four-year commissioner seats during next week's election. Incumbents Robert Becker and Duane Cobb hope to be re-elected. Challenging them are David Flaherty, Pamela Bolyd, Meanie Marvin and Richard Wicks. Commissioner Jeff Weber is running unopposed for a two-year term. The city also has two proposals on the ballot. The city is asking voters to approve a 2 mill Fire renewal and a 3 mill police renewal.
GALIEN TOWNSHIP
Galien Township voters will decide on two different proposals during next week's election. Residents will vote on a 6-year .5 mill levy to pay for fire and ambulance equipment and expenses. The city is also hoping to pass a 1 mill renewal for Galien road maintenance and improvement.
