It looks like Sunday's fatal accident in Van Buren County wasn't the only crash at the scene. The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday a Paw Paw Police Department squad car also struck the left rear of 23-year-old Jeffrey Haas' vehicle when he arrived on scene.
21-year-old Brianne Shaver of Kalamazoo told police she was helping Haas when the Paw Paw squad car hit the victim's car. She says her hand was hurt during the incident, but refused treatment at the scene. Haas died on the scene after colliding head-on with 37-year-old Keith Rapp on Red Arrow Highway. Rapp died later Sunday at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Lt. Bill Lux says a Lawton Police Department squad car also ran off the road and hit a mailbox. He says that information should have been released with the initial report, but it wasn't. Lux says the Sheriff's Department is now looking into why that information didn't come out until now.
