Town Hall Meeting To Discuss Public Safety Building

The Lake Charter Township Public Safety Building drama lives on... last month a Berrien County judge denied a contract's request to stop work on the new public safety building. Now, a national organization is holding a Town Hall Meeting to discuss how the Township awarded the project's bid to Benton Harbor's Pearson Company in April. Americans For Prosperity-Michigan is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to free market education and activism. And AFP-Michigan Director Scott Hagerstrom says the township didn't keep its word in accepting the lowest bid.

Listen:

Pearson Company's bid was over $285,000 more than the lowest bid submitted by Portage-based MAVCON. Hagerstrom says local members of AFP contacted the organization to investigate the situation. He says the purpose of the town hall meeting is to ask questions and hopefully, get some answers. The meeting is Tuesday night at 7 at the Lake Charter Township Hall.
