A Laingsburg man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday in Van Buren County. Sheriffs deputies say that around three in the afternoon, they were called to the scene of the accident on the County Road 687 exit ramp of I-94 in Hartford Township. 31 year-old Brian Christopher Tufnell had been exiting the freeway when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into some nearby grass. He and his eleven year-old passenger -- Michael Logan Tufnell -- were thrown from the bike, which then caught fire. Brian Tufnell was dead when police arrived, and the eleven year-old was taken to a hospital with several cuts and a broken clavicle. Police believe excessive speed was likely the cause of the accident.
