A Berrien County Sheriffs deputy is undergoing a series of medical tests after someone at the McDonald's restaurant in Berrien Springs allegedly spit in his food. According to a police report, the deputy bought a sandwich in the drive-through on June third, and noticed something was wrong with it. He took it inside, and the assistant manager heard his complaint before giving him a refund. Berrien Springs Police investigated the incident, and identified one employee who was named by others as having been responsible. That man -- who had previously served 14 years in an Indiana prison for home invasion with injuries to an elderly couple -- was taken to Lakeland Hospital for blood tests with the help of an order from his parole officer. The employee is now in the Berrien County Jail and charged with adulterated food. No word yet on whether he's been fired, or how the blood tests came back.
