A New Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to home invasion after police say they linked him to an area break-in that occurred in 2007. The Berrien County Sheriffs Department says that in August of 07, New Buffalo Township police investigated a home break-in on Wilson Road. Someone had entered the residence, and made off with several items, along with the owner's mini van. 22 year-old Tahir Kanaci was identified at the time as a suspect, since he had been seen in the area that day looking for a ride home. Police were eventually able to link Kanaci to the crime using evidence sent to the state police crime lab, and he's now pleaded guilty to second degree home invasion. Kenaci remains in the Berrien County Jail, and is scheduled for sentencing on June 15th.
