A local historic district is now officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mary's City of David nomination went before the Michigan Historic Review Board in January and State Representative John Proos announced the approval yesterday. City of David Secretary of Trust Ron Taylor says he's very pleased. He has personal history at the landmark. Taylor's grandparents help build the City of David in 1932.
The registration makes Mary's City of David eligible for federal funding and tax benefits. Taylor says he hopes the new designation will encourage local leaders to promote the historic location to increase tourism.
