Chrysler will cut 789 dealers nationwide and 40 right here in Michigan. Among the eliminated Michigan dealerships are Elhart Dodge and DBA Elhart Jeep in Holland; M&M Dodge, Orrin B. Hayes Jeep-Eagle and Maple Hill Chrysler in Kalamazoo; and Siemens Jeep in Saint Joseph. But, Siemens Jeep owner Ed Siemens says the Saint Joseph location is NOT closing. He says Jeep sales are just being transferred to the dealers Bridgman location. Siemens says the Saint Joseph dealership will continue to sell Mazdas. Tyler Automotive owner Scott Tyler says he got good news this morning when he found out his dealership will remain open.
Chrysler is asking a U.S. Bankruptcy court judge to slash 25% of its dealers. The restructured Chrysler-Fiat will cut 40,000 jobs nationally.
