An art exhibit dedicated to President Barack Obama will be unveiled this weekend in Union Pier. Vice Chair of Harbor Country Progress Ginny Washburn says that "It's Obama Time", a juried art show of Insider and Outsider Artists, will open on May second at the Harbor Country Progress Center on Red Arrow Highway. It will feature Obama-themed paintings, sculptures, and crafts made by supporters locally and from around the country:
Washburn says that a group of Obama campaign supporters are holding the exhibit as a way to continue the positive spirit they felt in the months leading up to the election. She thinks that Obama inspires people to create art because of the sense of refreshment he's brought to the political scene:
The Harbor Country Progress Gallery will be open on weekends and holidays from May second through October 31st, with ongoing shows featuring new art over the summer.
