Two Illinois men were arrested over the weekend for breaking into a tire store in Saint Joseph. Township police say that shortly before midnight on Saturday, an officer on routine patrol noticed three men near a truck that was backed up at the loading bay of Wingfoot Tire on Palladium Drive. When he shined a spotlight on them, the suspects ran, and a foot chase ensued. Another officer managed to catch and subdue one of the men at Hollywood and Niles Road, and another suspect was caught in a wooded area not long after. Upon further investigation it was found that two trucks had been stolen from Alpha Bakery in Sodus and driven to Wingfoot Tire, where a large hole was cut into an overhead door at the dock area with a circular saw so the suspects get into the warehouse. One of the trucks was fully loaded with 118 tires -- valued at about 30-thousand dollars. The two men who were caught -- 45 year-old Paul Boyd, and 44 year-old Henry Jenkins -- were lodged in the Berrien County Jail, while the other suspect remains at large.
