The Berrien County Sheriff's Department Crime Prevention Unit is warning about a new scam that targets elderly residents. Deputy Karen Klugg says two unknown whites’ males are gaining entry to elderly person's homes by posing as water department workers.
Police are reporting incidents in Berrien Springs, Stevensville, and Watervliet. Klugg says utility workers never show up at your home without a call from you. If someone like this comes up to your door and tries to come inside under the false pretense of a water or electrical problem, meter reader or utility worker,
call 9-1-1.
