A report is due from Amtrak on one particular run of the Pere Marquette that took 16 hours to get from Chicago to Grand Rapids two weeks ago. 130 passengers were not told why their trip was delayed and for liability reasons, not allowed to leave.
An attempt by Holland police to offer aid were blocked by CSX staffers who denied them access, as the train sat for hours on the tracks east of Town. Holland Congressman Pete Hoekstra says its unfortunate, but points out some of the problems that exist with the service.
