Amtrak Passengers Not Happy With Sunday Service

It might have been faster to walk. An Amtrak train enroute to Grand Rapids from Chicago finally arrived Monday morning more than 15 hours after leaving Union Station around five PM Central Time on Sunday. One passenger told television station WOOD that the train would go for a half-hour to 45 minutes, and then stop again. It was stuck near the Holland station for several hours. The train finally pulled into Grand Rapids around ten AM Eastern Time. The weather was the biggest problem, but an Amtrak official told the TV station in an e-mail that the train also was impacted by a broken rail problem overnight. When Holland's Mayor McGeehan asked police to look into helping the stranded passengers, the officers were not allowed access to the train and told to go away. Amtrak is blaming the weather.      Passengers may be getting a refund.
