Sunday is the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor... and three Berrien County veterans who were there that day are sharing their memories from that fateful day. Baroda's William Wegner was 17 and heading to church when he heard the Chief Boson's Mate yell, "The Japs are attacking!" 87-year-old Robert Flaherty tells the Tri City Record he was a 1st Class Seamen on the USS New Orleans and was scared to death. He says he remembers watching the planes fly over him, as they dropped bombs on the ships around him. 86-year-old John DeFields was on one of those ships, the USS Shaw. The ship was hit by three bombs, cutting it in half and killing 25 men. DeFields was one of the 16 wounded on that ship and later received a Purple Heart.
