It appears the country's economic situation is affecting many people's marriages... While financial strain can cause stress in a relationship, a new survey of American Academy Matrimonial Lawyers shows fewer people are actually filing for divorce. But one of those lawyers surveyed, Saint Joseph's Jack Keiser, says at his Kalamazoo practice some people are filing for divorce now because of the economy.
Keiser says divorce is an additional financial hardship for many, but he says staying with someone to avoid that strain is the wrong reason. He says divorce should be sought only when there is no other option.
