The Berrien County salt trucks are loaded and ready to go as they wait for the winter months. But County Engineer Manager Brian Berndt says they had many unexpected additional costs this year. For one thing, he says the cost of salt increased by $6 per ton.
Berndt says the cost of steel also increased this year, leading to another $30,000 in unexpected costs. And he says that means many other road projects in the county, will have to wait a little bit longer to get done.
