The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is investigating Saturday's fire at the Cook Nuclear plant. Spokeswoman Zika Mitlyng says that the Region Three division is involved in the process along with Cook personnel:
She says that so far, there's been no indication that a lack of proper oversight or maintenance on the part of Cook is to blame for the fire, which was apparently started when some rotor blades in a generator became damaged, causing a hydrogen leak that ignited. The NRC says that Cook remains safe, and the public was never in danger during the incident.
