City leaders in Saint Joe hired an architect this week to do a study on the local lighthouse and determine what repairs it needs. Assistant City Manager John Hodgson says the information they get will be used in the city's application to the federal government to take control of the landmark:
The architect out of Ann Arbor will study both the lighthouse and its surrounding catwalks. The 19-thousand dollar cost of hiring the firm will come out of private donations the city has received for lighthouse acquisition and maintenance.
