Michigan Chamber claims government reform group circumvented finance laws



The Michigan Chamber of Commerce says a petition initiative that would make sweeping constitutional changes to cut the size of state government shouldn’t be on the ballot. Their complaint claims that Reform Michigan Government Now, the group behind the petitions, failed to file a statement of organization last year, when the chamber claims work on the effort began.    Jim Holcomb is the Chamber’s Vice President.

How far will it get? Reform Michigan Government Now spokesperson Dianne Byrum thinks the Michigan Chamber of Commerce's efforts won't hold up.

The reform initiative hasn’t even been certified to be on the ballot yet. They are still counting to see if they have enough valid signatures.   They expect to hear back from the Secretary of State concerning the campaign finance complaint soon.
