Saint Joe To Get Water Intake Improvements

A key part of the water system in Saint Joseph will be getting some upgrades, following action this week by city commissioners. On Monday, they were told that the intake that pumps water for city use from Lake Michigan is too small to meet the city's growing demands. Plus, it does't extend far enough into the lake to prevent being clogged by ice particles and sand. So, the engineering firm of FTC and H was hired to fix the problem by extending the intake by another thousand-plus feet. The project will cost about 607-thousand dollars, and work will start next year.
