Democratic candidate for the sixth Congressional District Don Cooney is again challenging Congressman Fred Upton to a series of debates. The longtime Kalamazoo City Commissioner is seeking to unseat Upton this November, and this week, he delivered a letter to Upton's Kalamazoo office, calling on the Saint Joseph Republican to take part in three public forums planned for this summer. The first, on the economy, is set for July 29th...and others on the war in Iraq and energy policy are scheduled for different times throughout August. Upton has previously stated that there will be plenty of time for debates between the two candidates as the November election draws closer.
