Identity theft victims will be able to seek compensation for the time and effort they have to put into cleaning up the damaged caused to their credit under legislation approved this week in the State House. Voting for the bill was State Representative John Proos, who says that it will help crack down on a crime that can affect anyone:
The bill also sets up procedures for how consumers' personal data should be destroyed, and more clearly defines just what identity theft is under state law. It now heads to the Senate.
