Berrien County Approves Pilot Program To Extend Alcohol Sales At Three Shadowland Events



Those who attend the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra summer event at Shadowland Pavilion along with the 98.3 The Coast Smooth Jazz at Sunset Concert and 97.5 Y-Country Summer Jam will have two extra hours to buy and consume alcohol. In an 8-4 vote, the Berrien County Board of Commissioners approved a one-year pilot to expand alcohol sales from four to six hours. County Parks Director Brian Bailey feels concerns by commissioners of overconsumption are overblown.

Commissioner Debra Panazzo voted in favor, noting that with it being a pilot program, if something goes wrong at any of the three events in 2015, they won't allow the expansion going forward in 2016 and beyond.
