Court Dog Mr. Weeber Introduced

Mr. Weeber is now on the job in Berrien County. He is the black lab that is owned by Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Taylor and his family that has been brought in to assist with children who have to testify. Prosecutor Mike Sepic introduced the year and a half old dog to the Berrien County Board of Commissioners on Thursday, and said their reactions were what they are hoping for.

According to Taylor, the dog was in training to be a leader dog for the blind.

Taylor was asked about the chances Mr. Weeber would be offered to other counties in the event of a child having to testify, such as in the horrific abuse case uncovered this week in Van Buren County.

Sepic noted the dog has been on the job for three weeks, but hasn't yet been called into duty.

Mr. Weeber was obtained at no cost to the county, as the Crime Victims Foundation paid the leader dog school for the animal.
