Clarity Hearing Called Regarding Recall Effort Of Clerk Tyler

A hearing will be held in Lansing regarding petition language for the recall of Berrien County Clerk Sharon Tyler. Activist Edward Pinkney of Benton Township, who is awaiting trial on felony election fraud charges from the recall of Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower, is behind the effort to remove Tyler from her post. He wants her out for filing the motion that temporarily halted the Benton Harbor mayoral recall election over petition signature issues and for appealing a judge's ruling to put the recall on the November ballot. Pinkney is alleged to have altered several petitions in that effort. A clarity hearing is set for Thursday, September 4 in the State Capitol Building.
