All 70 early warning sirens within 10 miles of the Cook Nuclear Plant will be tested over the next three weeks. Unlike the tests in the spring when all are sounded at the same time, this test involves individual tests of each siren three to four times for roughly 30 seconds. Crews will be obtaining readings and making adjustments to ensure proper coverage and reliability. They will also be performing preventative maintenance and battery checks. If there is severe weather, the work will be suspended to avoid confusion with an actual emergency.
