Crowdfunding Effort Underway For Beach Bites Concession Stand At Jean Klock Park



Kinexus is working to raise money that otherwise would have been brought in over the summer at the Beach Bites concession stand at Jean Klock Park. Susan Matheny is the director of community relations for Kinexus and is involved in the Beach Bites program with students from the Bridge Academy. She admits the weather this summer has not been ideal for beachgoing.

Matheny says even with slow business, it hasn't been a total loss for the students.

They have launched a crowdfunding effort through Indiegogo, with links on the Kinexus Facebook page and at the bottom of this story. The goal is to raise $4,000, and so far they're 5% of the way there.

For the really ambitious, a $1,000 donation will get a burger named anything you'd like it to be named for a year, and you'll get a free one every time you're at the park through the end of the 2015 season. While the concession stand isn't designed to necessarily turn a profit, Matheny adds it's still important to come as close to breaking even as possible.
