Roger Lange To Get His Day In Court

June 15 of next year, that's when Roger Lange's trial in federal court will be heard by U.S. District Judge Robert Holmes Bell in Grand Rapids. The "Herald-Palladium" reports Benton Harbor's on-leave Public Safety Director was suspended by former Emergency Manager Tony Saunders in July of 2013. Lange claims he was put on administrative leave because he complained to the state about racially fueled remarks made by Saunders, who is black, to two white officers. Saunders stated it's because Lange never passed Firefighter I and II training. Lange has since completed it. He's now seeking reinstatement along with back pay, damages and reimbursement for legal expenses. The federal trial will begin June 15. It's expected to last six days.
