County Commission Candidate Offers Solution To Help Spur Economic Growth

A candidate for the Berrien County Commission in next week's primary election is calling for changes in county government to help spur economic growth. Barnd Krebs of Royalton Township spoke this week to the commission. He claims Berrien County "keeps good books," but is losing business and tax revenue to neighboring counties. He cites IRS data.



Krebs says that nearly $180-million leaving neighboring counties and states.



He didn't specify any dates regarding those numbers. But Krebs did offer a solution.



He says government needs to curb itself, and get out of the way of the private sector. Krebs is up against 6th District Commissioner Jeanette Leahey in Tuesday's election.
