Pscholka Announces Second Orchard Hill Landfill Town Hall

The public will get another opportunity to speak its mind regarding a Coloma landfill. State Representative Al Pscholka will again host a town hall meeting to discuss Orchard Hill Landfill updates and progress made to address local odor complaints. The open forum will take place Tuesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. in the North Berrien Senior Center. Since the first meeting in May Pscholka says "dramatic progress has been made to alleviate the odor issues affecting the community." The landfill has removed an average of 6,000 gallons of perched water per week over the last four months. That liquid can lead to unwanted odors. Since the May meeting, the DEQ has received fewer complaints about the landfill odors, many of which were rated as low level, or below two on a scale of five. Pscholka is happey about that, but says "without public input, we cannot know for certain that our local residents are seeing improvements to their quality of life."
