St. Joseph Commission To Vote On CVS Tonight

The vote is coming tonight in St. Joseph on whether or not a CVS pharmacy will be built at Niles and Napier. The proposal has been modified several times since it was first floated five months ago, with the latest being a change to an all-brick exterior. Two weeks ago, attorney Mark Miller said the brick option wasn't selected at that time for a reason.

City Commissioner Mary Goff mentioned at that time brick would work.

The St. Joseph City Commission tabled any action on the CVS two weeks ago, noting that while the plan has been publicly debated for months and in front of the planning commission multiple times, they were just getting their first look at the official proposal. Commissioners will also be voting on extending Napier Avenue a short distance past Niles Road to accomodate the parking lot for the CVS. The commission held a lengthy public hearing two weeks ago, and Mayor Mike Garey noted at that point that there would not be the same drawn-out discussion when it came back up for a vote. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the development in June. Developers first floated the idea in February and were at the time shooting for a November opening.
