The Coloma Township Board has gotten a recommendation from the township Planning Commission regarding Berrien County's request for a special use permit to operate a gun range. The Planning Commission voted this month to reject the request submitted four years ago. Berrien County officials called for the township to resolve the lingering request. The "Herald-Palladium" reports the county has been wrapped in legal battles with the township for several years over the police training range along Angling Road. Most recently, the township sued the county over use of it. That trial is scheduled to start in late September. The Coloma Township Board will consider the Planning Commission's recommendation at its August 13th meeting.
