Vote in the August primary election. That's the message from Berrien County Commissioner Mamie Yarbrough. She delivered it Monday during her monthly update to the Benton Harbor City Commission.

She also stressed Michigan voting rights. Saying ex-felons, those on probation or on parole all have the right to vote.

Yarbrough says a high number of votes equal greater attention from the state.

She faces a challenge in the August 5 primary from Benton Harbor Area Schools Trustee Lisa Gulley.
