Mary Donald Fills Benton Harbor's Vacant Commissioner At Large Seat

Benton Harbor leaders have filled a vacant seat on the City Commission, but not without some controversy. Five candidates were publicly interviewed Monday to fill the seat left empty by former Commissioner David Shaw. Using a point system, from 1 being the worst to 10 being the best, Commissioners asked and graded nine questions to score the candidates by. Mary Donald came out on top.

Commissioner Duane Seats accused others on the board of not properly filling out their ballots.

Commissioner Marcus Muhammad disagreed.

A vote to table her acceptance never happened. The motion to accept Donald as the winner did. She'll be sworn into her Commissioner at Large seat next commission meeting. Her partial term ends December 31, 2015.
