Proos, Senate, Upton Push For Missile Interceptor For Fort Custer

There is a chance a new missile interceptor system could be located in west Michigan. The state Senate and Congressman Fred Upton are pushing the federal government to put the system at Fort Custer in Battle Creek, with the Senate approving a resolution on the issue last week. Senator John Proos says putting the system at the base would have a huge impact on the economy with an estimated $3.2 billion investment and 250 new jobs.

In a statement released through Proos' office, Upton said Fort Custer's strategic location between Chicago and Detroit make it a perfect spot. He adds it would both help to protect our homeland and bring in a multi-billion dollar investment in the area.
