No Interruption In Air Medical Service Flights

Air medical services to southwest Michigan out of South Bend will not be interrupted. The flights had been suspended due to a clerical regulatory oversight according to state Senator John Proos and state Representative Al Pscholka, who worked together to get the flights back in the air. Proos says a cease and desist order was in place to prevent the flights from crossing state lines.

The closest air medical service to Berrien County would have been coming out of Kalamazoo, which could take as long as 40 minutes to arrive compared to 10 to 15 minutes out of Indiana. Sheriff Paul Bailey said in a statement that getting the flights resumed before the July 4th holiday was crucial.
