House Approves Upton's North American Energy Infrastructure Act



A bill co-sponsored by Congressman Fred Upton to create a fair and transparent approval process for cross-border energy projects, such as pipelines and transmission lines, has passed the US House.

The bill was inspired by the six-year deadlock surrounding the Keystone XL pipeline project.

The bill is expected to die in the Senate. It would take the power away from the President and hand it over to federal agencies, and require a permit approval within 120-days.

The President had already threatened a veto before it came up for a vote Tuesday.
