Upton Says GM Investigation Far From Over

Congressman Fred Upton says his Energy and Commerce Committee is not done asking questions about the recall of 2.6 million General Motors vehicles due to faulty ignition switches. The automaker's internal investigation found evidence that engineers knew of the problem for more than a decade, and while some tried to speak up, their concerns were brushed aside.

Upton's committee heard from GM CEO Mary Barra on Wednesday. He plans to question the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as well, saying GM's investigation showed NHTSA had the information and also failed to act. The recalls weren't issued until earlier this year, after 13 people were killed in crashes related to the ignition flaw.
