Hagar Shore Road, near North Shore Road, in Coloma Township was the site of a car vs. cement truck accident Tuesday afternoon. North Berrien Fire Chief Bob Ruff reports there were three people in the car, which had flipped onto its side because of the crash. A small child in the back seat appeared to suffer no injuries. Crews worked for 90-minutes extricating two front seat passengers, using the Jaws of Life. One patient was taken via ambulance the other by helicopter to a nearby hospital. Both patients were conscious at the time. Ruff tells us it was one of the most difficult extrications he had ever been faced with, and was very proud of his team and their effort to get the passengers out of the vehicle safely. The accident is under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.
