Senate Passes Proos' Road Funding Bill



It's not the $2 billion Governor Snyder wants for roads, but the state Senate has passed a bill to guarantee as much as $140 million a year for road funding. The measure was sponsored by Senator John Proos of St. Joseph, and makes it law that two of every six cents collected in the state's sales tax go to road funding.

The money now goes to the state's General Fund. Proos has been pushing for that bill to pass since Snyder first called on lawmakers to find $2 billion a year for road repairs. His bill is now before the state House.
